Hey Tcp!

What did you get? I've been using various MS Phone Edition devices for a few years now.

Let me know and I'll post something specific, but generally speaking the most common apps are plug-ins for the today screen that do various things like monitor storage space, battery life, backlight status etc. Sometime the default PIM can be lacking and there's a few good alternatives.

I hope you got a good deal, check out this site for a good European shop.
