i did a course with them in the Strawberry Beds last summer. They do plenty courses for beginners over the summer as that's when the water's a bit warmer and being a beginner you're likely to take plenty swims

Evening Introductory Kayak Courses
The Irish Canoe Union will be running a series of evening kayaking courses throughout the spring and summer months at its Training Centre which is located in the Strawberry Beds, Chapelizod.
On Blocks 1 & 2 the six- session courses are from 7.00 until 9.30 pm one evening per week over six weeks. On Blocks 3 & 4 the six- sessions are from 7.00 until 9.30 pm one evening per week over 4 weeks with the final 2 sessions on a weekend day from 10 am until 4pm. The courses are of introductory level and operate under the guidance of qualified Irish Canoe Union Instructors. Assessment for the Irish Canoe Union Level 2 Kayak Proficiency Certificate can be arranged at the end of each course.
The course fee is €160. All technical equipment is supplied.
Block 1 – Courses consisting of six evening sessions, one evening per week over six weeks
Starting:
C1 Tuesday 5th April until 10th May
C2 Wednesday 6th April “ 11th May
C3 Thursday 7th April “ 12th May
Block 2 – Courses consisting of six evening sessions, one evening per week over six weeks
Starting:
C4 Tuesday 17th May until 21st June
C5 Wednesday 18th May “ 22nd June
C6 Thursday 19th May “ 23rd June
Block 3 – Courses consisting of four evening sessions & 1-day river trip
C7 Tuesday 28th June until 23rd July
C8 Wednesday 29th June “ 24th July
C9 Thursday 30th June “ 24th July
Block 4 – Courses consisting of four evening sessions & 1-day river trip
C10 Tues 9th August until 10th Sept
C11 Wed 10th August “ 11th Sept
