    Why? Oh Why?....

Maybe i expected more from George A Romero but this unfortunately looks like a turd which will undoubtedly sully the name of the still excellent and timeless 'Trilogy Of The Dead' ('Night Of The Living Dead', 'Dawn Of The Dead' and 'Day Of The Dead')

The trailer makes all those classic mistakes...

    - very little or no dialogue
    - a minute long intro building up the reputation the film has to the max with big bright letters against a black background (from George A Romero.... the genre he created... blah blah blah!)
    - that oh so awful inevitable metal tune... which is sneaking into more and more trailer's for horrors nowadays
    - too many fast cuts between scenes / zombie's.. could barely follow it! :D

Anyways.. i think Romero is pulling a Lucas* on us!

    * A 'Lucas': taking a franchise which will remain timeless and then chasing the almighty dollar... and making an absolute arse out of f the film and a joke of the franchise while at it!

I wouldn't decide just yet. Admittedly that's a terrible trailer apparently designed to get fans of Resident Evil-type "horror" films and other slasher-flick dross interested, but....the central premise of the film could still make for a very cool film (especially considering Romero's unused script for Day Of The Dead, the one they had to ditch due to budget concerns). I'm hoping this film will be similar to Day, only with the Dawn of the Dead remake's higher budget and correspondingly more convincing sense of scale....they could go wrong and make it look too polished, though.

And yes, I'm also sick of rock/metal songs being used to characterise horror films. It's a crap way of marketing them to idiot teenagers. But then, the films that overdo it tend to be crap anyway...

As a 'teaser' trailer, I don't think you should expect too much.

I think this looks pretty deadly. I really like the premise of the movie, and the idea of 'intelligent' zombies is as intriguing as the idea of 'fast' zombies.

I think you're completely wrong... teaser trailers rarely have much dialogue. I woudl agree with you about the stupid metal music though, bloody anoying.

How do ye know it's a teaser trailer? I expect teaser trailer's a couple of months in advance to a film... hell, even a year in advance at times (example: Ice Age 2).

'Land Of The Dead' lands in cinemas in the US in just under 2 months. A bit late for a teaser trailer, in my opinion!

While I agree that the trailer was cack, I'm certainly not living under the impression that it reflects the quality of the final product!

I noticed a Zombie firing a Steyr Aug in the clip! How odd, hopefully these intelligent zombies do the genre proud.

I know it's just semantics, but in my mind, anything around 2 months counts as "a couple of months".

But besides that, I mean.. it just gives us a teasing glimpse at the movie. It's not a full trailer. As you said, half the trailer is explaining about stuff from Night, Dawn and Day, along with bits of those movies. Compare this to the Episode III teaser, which, similarly, gave over half its time to scenes from Episodes I-II, IV-VI.

If it looks like a duck, and walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck...

"Look him in the eyes, look him in the eyes!!"

Anyways.. this does look and feel like a teaser trailer. So i'll keep an eye out when the theatrical trailer is released and post it here!

What's the theme of this one? As in night-racism/apartheid, Dawn-Commercialism,
    Day-Science/Religon.

I'd guess the theme is the growing division between rich and poor under capitalism in western economies from the basic plotline, but I'm pulling this out of a hole in my arse so I could be totally wrong.

It looks okay, but more so in a "resident evil 3" kind of way more then a proper Romero film.

The music IS from Resident evil, anyone else notice that? Its Mariyns Mansons - eh, something of power its called. It was in several scenes in Resident evil, the original movie.

Agree that the trailer looks terrible. But who knows... it might be ok!

As for the intelligent zombies, i am not sure about that! I thought the whole idea was the terror of being turned into a 'mindless' monster with a taste for human flesh. This is more like the terror of becoming hannibal lector.
