He's not a massive problem really. He's dismally slow at posting. <A mod> contacted yahoo and managed to have one email address closed, but of course he can just get another one somewhere else.

here's a thought - do people ever post email addresses legitimately anymore?

Could it not be done that like the swear word filter that a filter is made to block *@*.*

    ??
Might put and end to it permanently...

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,901 ✭✭✭Vexorg

Sigh... gone aong with his posts....

    V.

it only take a few moments to delete the user and prune his posts.. he must be bitter:) As long as the good people of boards use the report this post function, they get nothing out of it for the amount of work required on their part

That guy doesn't know the meaning of LOST CAUSE! :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,542 ✭✭✭kinkstr

"the amount of work required" hardly, 60 seconds at most to create a yahoo address and register here, before the post is deleted, whatever it was, it may have had hundreds of views and even a few buyers !!

i doubt it, its spam at its lowest

Guys, do't want to sound like a mod, but I don't think it helps that people comment on the threads when they come up.

JUST PRESS THE REPORT THREAD BUTTON!!!!! AND STOP COMMENTING IN THE THREADS

What I was wondering though, Vex, was if you would be able to content filter these threads?
I mean the text is always the same

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,173 ✭✭✭D

Most peopel do that Gil. They also start talking about the thread, it doesn't matter if we reply to the thread as the OP most likely never checks them anyway and it is a macro.

I'm aware of that D, but my point is, that the annoying threads keep filling up the latest updated threads screen with utter Cr@p all the time instead of just reporting them and letting them go by

You could certainly content filter that email address he is using but that will hardly stop him for too long. There are more effective ways of stopping him if he becomes too much of a nuisance.

Yup dont bump his thread, just report it pls....

Im not aware of any text filters to apply to stop him posting, or ip range blockers...

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

Can you put his email addy into the swear word filter?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,413 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

Actually, bumping the thread makes it more likely I'll see and act on it. Who has time to read all the reported posts?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,276 ✭✭✭damnyanks

    Sure its not a bot?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,413 ✭✭✭✭Trojan

And that's a fantasic idea from Gordon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,811 ✭✭✭✭billy the squid

as we have seen though trojan, it only takes him a few seconds to set up a new email addres, while at the same time, he can still do his business happily from other websites with his old email address. his email address would only be blocked on boards.

he changes his email addy and ip address regularly, ive found the ip range blocker in vbulletin, not that itsmuch use, i think he comes back as he gets lots of attention.
