The most pleasing landmark of my regular trips to Cavan (apart from Yores Stores) was always the sign outside The Bent Elbow lounge a few miles out of Virginia. Weird hobgoblin-headed man with an entirely disproportionate left arm clutching a pint of stout. With a grin.

Then when I passed by last January, the sign was gone.
Feckin' progress.
That's what always happens - you give a county its first cinema and a few more sets of traffic lights and they lose all sense of perspective.

some sick stuuf down in cavan, my uncle owns a taxidermist there.

they've found some weird animals. he was on nationwide a few years ago with a rabbit/cat thing and a fish/dog thing.
