A new internet-based bank has entered the Irish market, promising to pay interest on deposits at 10 times the current average in Ireland.

The Dutch firm Rabobank, which claims to run Europe's largest internet bank, said it was offering interest rates of 3% on all deposits to Irish customers.

It said there was no minimum term and no minimum deposit, while account holders would also have immediate access to their money.

Interesting.

They already own ACC bank and closed down its personal in branch banking about 18 months ago.

Shame it wasn't ING Direct...the 5% rate they offer in other places would be even more appealing
