Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So if Chelsea won the CL last year Liverpool wouldn't even have been in this years one.

yes liverpool would have been. Because Chelsea finished in the top 4. However the FA had ruled that if Chelsea had won, and finished 5 they would have been entered for the CL.

Well they didnt, so its not a situation that had to be dealt with.

Thankfully the FA have stated their position and that's that.

Liverpool fans shouldnt take this as a personal snub against their mighty club, but as the FA just standardising the rules so that it doesnt happen in the future.

Regardless of the decision going against Liverpool or whatever consider what has happened now.

The FA stated last year that Winners of CL would qualify regardless of league placing.
So any reasonable expectation Everton would have would be overruled by the clarification at that time.
The FA have reversed their position. It's not like they decided for the first time this is what they would do. They have actually reversed a previous decision.

Now it's hardly a snub or such like because Liverpool are Englands top ranked European team so they're only reducing the seeding they will get. But their contrived comment will be interesting to read when they make it.

Completely off topic but whether Liverpool or Exeter enter next seasons CL, the only effect a team can have on the country seedings is their results in the competition that year. Liverpool's ranking points they got this year are added to Man Utd, Chelsea, etc. which are then added to the points from the previous 4 years to get the country ranking. It won't really effect Liverpool's seeding either as they will be in the UEFA cup where they get the same amount of points for a win or draw.

what I was trying to say that Liverpool would be first seeds next season. Everton wouldn't be. Consequently the English league representatives would have more chance of going out early through being drawn against top seeded teams.

    Which is an aside. ;)
