System of a down new album? (opinion)

very dissapointed with this new album, I like B.Y.O.B., Cigaro and Violent Pornography, the rest are very average and this is after 4 listens to the album, I then played their debut album and Toxicity afterwards again and those classics made this new album sound even more average:(

indeed. i've explained this to many people, and they still comment on it being new and "not nice on him"... because it matters to the music, y'know...

anyway, the album kicks ass, though the guitars do drown out the rest at times, and it's too short...

Ofcourse his hair is important.

The decline in coolness of his hairstyle is obviously directly proportional to the quality of their songs.

Anyway...it is a bit short but then again all of their albums have been.
Do you not think that the guitars are very good though...a huge step up like.

I listened to moost of it this morning.

The songs are good but they're kinda similar. I likes it though.

got the album yesterday, have listened to it about 10 times.first impressions were not fantastic,BYOB being the stand out track i thought.
After a few listens most the songs fit into the catchy category, RADIO being the biggest sinner but i like the kind of reggae interlude in the middle, a nice touch.
Too many of the songs seem to rely more on the catchy lyrics than the music. Not enough interesting intros or winging solos, solos were never the strong point of darons but i intros to previous material was always good.

Its not as good as any of their previous albums,including steal this album but its a worthwhile addition. however 37minutes of music is a bit cheeky, i know their not famed for long albums but do the really expect us to believe that none of the tracks from this cd couldnt have been cut to make a decent 60 minute album from this one and the hypnotize album....sorta reeks of profit making...........anyone else agree??

actually iv changed my opinion slightly, this album is septic, if i wanted catchy music i would have got sissor sisters or the darkness. this album is by far systems worst material. listened to toxicity and 1st album last night, then the new one and i actually turned it off.tink it will be gathering dust in the glove box of my car for a while or i might lone it to someone and forget to ask for its return

tbh its not a great album, its only a slight improvement on Steal This Album which I think we all know was muck.

There are a few good riff's here and there and some comical lyrics, but if I wanted something comical I would listen to Billy Connolly.

By listening to this album you just know that they are going to be terrible live!

I'd only barely give it 5/10 and will probably rarely listen to a track on this album again!

ah now Steal This Album improves the more you listen to it. also Mezmerize is a very good album. different but i likes it. 7 thumbs up

I think its a good album, but I find it hard to take seriously, Its real 'go out and get wasted and dance like a cabbage to it' kinda music.

I'd put it up there second with "Toxicity", The first album however will always be the best, IMO.

Steal this Album was very half and half for me.

Half very good, half gic.

This album is good tough.
I'd be raging if I'd paid twenty five quid for it though.

a friend described mezmerize as the metal version of american idiot.....at least green day are crap and i wouldnt have expected anything different, but soad,this maybe the beginning of the decline

Septic is actually a pretty good description. I hate the album because I know that in theory it's crap, but I can't stop singing the songs and laughing when I listening to it. Its both really good and really bad at the same time. I guess, stop worrying and be happy

Going to see them live in Germany in a few weeks, should be good, shame they're only the support band...

On my third listen im not too keen on the last four songs , there a bit unsysytem like , There still a great band though and over all the albums deadly but the last 4 songs could be scrapped.

They've changed so much over the 3.5 albums. in image and in music.

If you look at them at the time of Sugar they looked like psychos. Now they have "matured". (don't like that word) their music is more mellow and their image is one of four normalish guys. Darron is in his 30s now. of course he'd ahve been writing different stuff when he was younger.

Anyone notice how its printed with soya ink on recylced paper. Those guys sure put in the effort.
