Animated sig and sig too high. PM'ed

  • Registered Users Posts: 17,399 ✭✭✭✭r3nu4l

    User:Oubliette

Sig too high (350 px) and too long (146 px), also may be considered offensive (character is Penny [teenager] from Inspector gadget and quote says "My Uncle used his gadgets to 'molest' me"

yes, so offensive you can see the outrage in this thread, with comments like 'LMAO, great sig'
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055007388
Oh wont someone think of the children!
and according to some admin called vexorg on page 2 or 3 of this thread 'if your sig is a little big, dont fret about it'.
I would suggest you find yourself a more wothwhile pastime r3nual, like possibly harrasing small children in a playground for spending too long on the swings, that'll make you feel like an even BIGGER man!

Ha, sorry you're so offended dude (well, not really) but it's standard practice to report the sig size excesses and if the sig is offensive. I'm more concerned with the offensiveness of the sig than the size tbh. Also as your sig is gone then I assume it was the offensive nature rather than the size since many other sigs that are a wee bit too big are allowed to stay.

If you think the notion of a child character being molested is cool then that's your thing I suppose. Personally I don't find suggestions of child abuse funny in real life or in cartoon form.

As for children and playgrounds, from your sig it seems that you have a fixation on children yourself, I'd be careful about that if I were you :D:p

    Oh, and it's r3nu4l not r3nual ;)

Honestly if you have a problem with this then take it to feedback or PM the mod in question, normally you get a 48 hour grace period but whoever removed it felt that you shouldn't get that. Ask them for an explanation if you feel it's necessary.

Peace out and all of that :)

Hmmm, I thought this was feedback. Anyway, if you read the thread, it comes down to the mod's discretion mostly. Maybe you're sig was offensive as well as being over the limit. I don't know because I didn't see it.

Ya know, I think you're right, the word Feedback in the forum title probably gave it away but I've had a long day so my bad :) What I really meant was that if he had that big a problem with it he should start a new thread about wannabe mods and power trips or something.

It was a bit big really. I saw it a few days ago but left it as there weren't any complaints about it. Sometimes users will only post on certain forums and the rest of the users on the forum won't have a problem with the sig. The larger sigs are also against the rules because they break up the page, they break the general flow of reading a thread. That's why animated images aren't allowed as they break and disturb the flow of threads.

Tbh, I thought r3nu4l's sig was too big also so had to check it properly. Maybe I think that because of the combination of text and images.

Yeah, the image is exactly within the required size but tbh I don't really like it myself so I'll probably change it to keep the length but reduce height...especially considering I've got text in there as well.

Also so it be known, I don't personally have a problem with the Oubliette sig but I can see how some people might find it upsetting or worse-case scenario make trouble for boards.ie over some child-porn insinuation.

Again, I know it's mod discretion but I used to have a sig-quote using [.QUOTE] tags (before I realised it wasn't allowed :)) and it was never reported or taken down...are quotes a big no-no or minor infringement in others opinions? Animated and really large sigs I can understand slowing down the server, do quotes do the same?

  • Registered Users Posts: 35,524 ✭✭✭✭Gordon

I'm not 100% sure on the quote rule tbh. Quotes won't slow down the server any more than normal text. As far as I understand - the quote rule is on quotes from boards users, I could be wrong, it just doesn't make much sense to me to disallow quotes in general. I think the quote rule for boards members is due to taking someone out of context. I'm open to correction on that though.
