I'm glad you pointed this out, as the black color doesn't show up under the cloud skin very well, sutty should make it all red or something.

I thought the same, but couldn't really see where he contravined the rules.

Images and text allowed - image is within size limits, text is less than 8 lines.

    What rule is he breaking?

Still present.. What's the procedure here? Who contacts the individual and what are the consequences for not removing it?

This guy's sig seems to be nothing but an advertisement for himself and his PC.

This guy was notified by me about 3-4 weeks ago and ignored it. I then posted it here and it was removed. User then put it back knowingly it breaks the rules. I know it's just a quote but it'd be nice to have some sort of action taken when a user keeps "sticking it to the man" :D I'll get on to a Smod.

biko - is there any chance you, or one of the sigpo could collate all the updates there have been to the original rules.. and perhaps sticky the updates..

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,454 ✭✭✭cast_iron

From what I can make of it, the modifications are:

    1. Text and images ARE allowed, provided they remain within the current rules.
    2. The flickr.com embedded links are allowed (I reported numerous and none were removed so I assume they are okay).
    3. Those userbars (userbars.org) are allowed.
    4. Centred (or right justified) sigs are generally a no-no.
    5. A few kB/pixels over the limit are generally considered okay.

Having said all that, I've no intention of reading 2000+ odd posts to see if I missed anything (but everyone is expected to if they wish to conform to the Sig Rules).
And SMod discretion always seems to apply.

    Yeah, me either..

I'm well aware that my sig as it is, is in violation of the original rules.. so it seems a little hypocritical of me to notify and report someone who may have an animated sig if the bighugelab sig is generally accepted..

cast_iron pretty much summed it up. In general, if your sig is an eyesore one of the SIGPOs will see/report it and it'll be removed. The sig must not stop the flow of the page, if you know what I mean? I've seen some hideous sigs on other BBs where the sigs makes it hard to read the flow of posts.

I'm just curious, why is it a no-no to have a quote in your sig? I would have thought that it'd be fairly harmless.

I've often wondered this myself but after seeing biko's comment about the flow of the page and of the posts I think it may have something to do with this. Although I have seen a few people with a quote in thier sigs abd it never bothered me.

"A quote like this is OK"
A quote like this just creates lots of blank space, expanding the area used and can be confused for part of a post.
