The smallest is 4.7GB. What size is the file? Would it fit on a CD? I'm sure that all DVD players can read CDs, so that wouldn't be a problem if it fits.

Depends on the format of the video, and the dvd player

Why would you want a smaller capacity DVD?
Just put the file on regular 4.7GB disk (or a cd if it fits, upto 700MB).

Some DVD players will play non-DVD video content (MPEG avi etc). Most won't, you'll have to author it (to vob format) and that takes effort.

Also lookup miniDVD - they are basically DVD video content (vob) on CD's.

Have it on dvd-rw but seems a waste to put it onto a 4.7gb disc

Will try burning onto a CD and see if it plays

    Just dont want any coasters

You can't just dump the file on to a CD, it has to be properly authored as a VCD, SVCD or Mini-DVD. Nero or a similar program will do the job.
