Anyone using AT&T Callvantage from ireland to call US?

Hi, I am going to Ireland for a couple months and will be bringing my AT&T Callvantage voip adapter along with me. I am not sure what internet connection I will have, but it will be either a cable or DSL broadband. The calls I will be receiving will come mainly from the US. What I am wondering is whether anyone else has had any success doing this. Or are the ping times prohibitively high, and I should instead just have the calls forwarded to a land lind in ireland at increased cost?

Just to point out that the power supply in Ireland is 220V/50Hz and we use 3-pin plugs, like this: -'-

IF your connection is decent (and AT&T allow nonUS logins) then there's no reason why you should have a problem.
I assume you will be using the ATA to login, via SIP or equivalent, to a US server?
Some people have done that with other VoIP providers and the quality is fine; others haven't been so lucky.

It work fine most of the time, if you get dsl here or are on a decent corporate link (leased line) you do have the extra variable of transatlantic traffic so expect the odd glitch, you can get there in under 120ms

I am in dublin now. There were some initial setup problems (i needed to disable the firewall), but after that it worked flawlessly. Here is my setup:

DVG-1120M voip gateway with 240v-->120v step down transformer

3Com officeconnect wireless router, firewall disabled (also worked with AR-250e non-wireless)

    Netsource Enterprise DSL 3072k/256k

    AT&T callvantage service

Thx for the update, and welcome to Ireland :)
Would be so kind as to post your setup above to the What is your VoIP setup? thread.

You should be able to get it to work through the firewall by opening the 'correct ports' - sometimes easier said than done.

    I'm curious,
Given that your VoIP service is in the US and all calls have to travel to AT&T's servers before they can be routed to the correct place do you find you have much of a delay compared to the service when you used it back in the states?

There is a little more delay than in the states, but not enough to be a problem.
