I used to work in the following places over the years... perhaps they can be of help to some of you now.

    - The Stables (collecting glasses & talking to friends, good job to socialise)

    - The Lodge (kitchen washing dishes... but you get into Lodge free anynight, plus dinner which was great as a student)

    - Walsh Western (a place out in Corbally which did quality control on PC's for Dell, or something like that.. never really figured out what I was standing around for looking at boxes... they paid well tho... 8 euro per hour I think)

    - Wheelers (oh God, what a nightmare... terrible fellow used to own the place, helped pay my way through last year in college by working almost every day through the first semester, at minimum wage too I may add.... think the place closed down because the tax man caught up with him)

    - Homebase (good place to work, money was good, learned some interesting stuff about garden furniture... plus you get discounts on whatever you want from the shop. Alot of Limerick skobs work there too though. I remember one fellow on my department who used to walk around throwing shapes and me and spitting on the ground each time he passed me ... because I won't put all the BBQ's together or something stupid like that... !!)

    - Zacs (its closed now... wasn't too bad to work in this place, until the Lodge closed and everyone came over locked and looking for hangover food. They used to let us bring home whatever burgers, chips, pizza's etc were left over. Not bad. ... plus I still wear the t-shirt... 4 years are leaving the place!)

I think that is it. Did anyone else work in these places, if so did you have similar experiences?

Hi, how did you get a job with them? Was it advertised or did you call out there? I'm currently looking for summer work in Limerick and factory work or similar would suit me.

Hey Eljono.... I got the Walsh Western job through a fellow that I was in a band with.... he knew someone who worked there I think. Just call out there if you can find it and ask around.

However, I would suggest Homebase... easy enough job... not a bad atmosphere... plus they need people now for the summer because all the students who were working there have left to go back to wherever they came from.

Ya cheers, I'll give Homebase a shot. It'd be pretty handy since I'll be staying in Groody which is only 5/10 mins away.

If you're coming from town, turn right at the roundabout after Fine Wines and Groody is the first estate you'll meet.

@Petee; From Groody to Homebase is only bout 10 min walk
