 I'd love to get my tongue pierced and was wondering whether its obvious when you get it done. Can you still talk properly? I was just wondering this because I've always wanted to get it done, but will have to hide it(I'm already hiding a tattoo) from several relatives who don't agree with it

I haven't ever gotten it doen, but would love to.

I'm told the tongue swells after getting it done, and you will find it difficult to talk for a few days, the swelling goes down (once you take neccessary after care) in about 2 or 3 days.

You will find it difficult to eat too, my cousin got hers done and was eating things like mushed up bannana, youghart, and lots of ice cudes to bring down the swelling.

Its best you wait and hear from someone that has had it done, like I say I'm only going on what I've heard.

By the colour of your writing and by the sound of the post you made I would imagine that you are too young to have it done anyway.
To answer your question, Yes you can talk but you may not talk 100% normally for the first few days and you will have to avoid eating certain things.

Yea the tongue swells for about a week but if you chew on some ice it'll reduce the swelling significantly. Tongue piercings are extremely common now a days (not saying anything bad about em cause i have mine done) but if your lookin for something different get a horizontal tongue piercing hardly anyone has em! As for speaking properly just pretend to be p!ssed off with your relatives and dont speak to them for a while! :D

 Hang on a second there lads!!! I only made my message that colour because I needed a reply quickly and wanted to make sure that people would notice it. If you looked at my profile you would see that I'm 18 (19 next month). So cut the crap and look a bit better next time

it's not possible to lie on the internet, yeah right. But you just assume that people aren't stupid enough not to believe your age just because your on the internet, and more to the point, I'm not lying about my age. If I wasn't the age I said I am, how the hell would I be writing this message in college in Limerick?

Got mine done in November. The pain of getting it done wasn't too bad as far as piercings go. Got my eyebrow done at same time, that was much sorer. Until two days later.

I tried not to take any anti-inflamitories, to get the real experience, by day three I didn't care much for the real experience anymore. They really helped. By the end of the first week i was back talking normally.

My main tips are loads of ice, in a sandwich bag, otherwise you'll burn your tounge, ouch!! And you'll spend the next few days living on soup, so make sure you well stocked up. Oh yeah 'Complan' is really good too. Through a straw.

Thats about it. No problems with it since. I think I'll get another...NOT

I didn't think getting my tongue hurt at all....I really like the look of the horizintal tongue piercing, but it looks mighty painful and I don't mind pain at all...but that scares me!!!getting my tongue web pierced hurt a lot more than the actual tongue...!!

Looked at your own profile lately?:)

Not exactly a case for Sherlock Holmes (which reminds me of a hilarious cartoon).
