Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hey
I have to setup a machine (Windows 98/XP) so that you cannot access the net without entering a password. I have seen some programs like this (inetprotect) but yea gota pay for them :) a big no no in my books!
Anyone know of a freeware tool like this? or maybe a method of doing the same thing?

    Thanks!

If you have a decent router you can do it from there

If the local user is IT savy then you have to password off the machine - some forewalls allow this.

one option is SquidNT and NT LM authentication - you have to logon to a seperate proxy sever before it fetches for you - and no I've not seen that feature setup and working.

well, since i didnt wanna limit to everyone hanging off the router not having internet access i searched for a windows app that can block internet access (as i orignally wanted).
Found a good program called iNet Protector, which Password protects an Internet connection. http://www.blumentals.net/inetprot/
cost me 20euro but what the hey, if it works 100% and does the job its worth paying for.
