Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Rooney in roundabout prang

Manchester United's Wayne Rooney escaped uninjured after a crash in his £50,000 BMW X5 on Thursday afternoon.

The 19-year-old England striker was in collision with a Nissan Primera driven by a 45-year-old woman, who suffered minor whiplash injuries.

The £50,000-a-week Old Trafford star was involved in the accident at a shopping centre in Cheadle Hulme, Stockport at 4pm on Thursday.

Rooney, who lives in Cheshire, will now get a letter summoning him to Stockport Magistrates Court to face a charge of driving without due care and attention.

He faces a maximum fine of £5,000 and possible ban.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were informed of a two vehicle road traffic collision at the Stanley Green Retail Park roundabout in Cheadle Hulme in Stockport, shortly before 4pm on Thursday 12 May 2005.

"A BMW X5 was in collision with a Nissan Primera. The 45-year-old female driver of the Nissan suffered minor whiplash injuries.

"The 19-year-old male driver of the BMW from Cheshire has been reported for summons for driving without due care and attention."

The accident came during a bad day for United.

US tycoon Malcolm Glazer launched his bid to buy the club prompting protests and anger among fans and Rio Ferdinand appeared in court for speeding after overtaking a police car at 106mph.

He will be sentenced later this month.

What the fvck are his parents doing letting him drive a car of that power?! Dont care who you are or how rich you are a 19year old behind the wheel a car that powerful is just asking for a serious accident, im pretty sure everyone will agree that no matter how good a driver you are at 19 you still need the experience of years.

ps. Rio should be forced to get a visectomy to make sure his stupid gene doesn't get passed on!

I know from a legal point of view they cant do anything but surely just as being parents they have some influence over him! When i bought my first car (18) was lookin briefly at an old prelude and my old fella was just like "here paul, learn to drive on something that doesn't do 0-60 in 6 seconds there like" Actually made quite a bit of sense to me at the time too, hadn't thought of it when went lookin at it. But then thats just me, rooney doesn't seem like the "gee whiz dad, what a groovy idea!" type. Probably sue him and go smack his girlfriend to vent some frustration! (oh erm, allegedly)
