ESB levy and vat

    I notice that we are charged Vat on the 'Public service obligation levy' is this correct? A tax on a levy sounds like a bad joke. :rolleyes:

    Well, no, the PSO levy isn't a tax.

    Basically, value is being added somewhere, it is being charged for, and therefore VAT is being collected on it.

    You may or may not be getting the benefit of the levy (depending where you live) but the value is still being added. So it makes sense that there be VAT.
