The BBC's Working Lunch programme to-day covered a scheme in the UK set up by locals to serve 5 villages. The report can be found at this
    link
and is 20:15 into the piece. Note the link will only be valid for one day.

According to the report the scheme cost around £10k to set up and is resulting in the creation of new businesses as a result. It looks like a cross between an Iirish WAN setup and a GBS setup. It is interesting to see that even in the UK such schemes are necessary.
