    RS ??? I am surprised at you ! SS396 !!!
The SS performance package consisted of a 350 or 396 cu in V8 engine and chassis upgrades for better handling and to deal with the additional power. The SS featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging...... The RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper, RS badging, and exterior bright trim. It was available on any model

So IMO the RS features could be fitted to the SS396 but the SS396 badging would stay whereas if the RS was fitted to the base model then RS badging would be applied - a chassis no. check would clear up matters

Good idea - when I was selling my 79 T/A the buyer was saying he could get a cheaper one in the UK :p As I said to him "Go ahead - but factor in your time and expenses doing that, plus customs duties and the potential of rust ( mine was California plated 773WBA ) on UK cars !" At least he could take his time checking mine out. ( Ever see it around 79D83 ? )

That particular Panda has recently been fully restored and has been sold to somebody in the Republic. It could very well be the same car.

Here's the thread (on another forum), when it was sold in November. Went to Dublin: http://www.backroads.ie/forums/showthread.php?5965-my-mk1-Pandas-heading-south

    Interesting pic from that article........:)
Ever wondered what a MK1 Panda engine looks like sitting beside a Ferrari V8 and a Lancia integrale 2.0 turbo engine. I have the answer.

Well. That's not a bad thing (bar the fuggly 120k Dub reg. ZV would have been better choice) ..

It means the current owner at least takes care of it and it's not been fubar'ed yet. And it's actually being used. Good stuff altogether.

A lot of work went into restoring that.

Yes its the same car - Jack Hill dealer sticker still in the back window. Thanks Marlow and Tigger for the links to the build, great read.

It's the National Day here in Sweden so there is a Classic car display in the main shopping area in town. Unfortunately the pics aren't great due to the strong sun and shadows and lots of people milling around, so I just post some that took my fancy.

The +8 and the Davrian belong to two of my neighbours.

Aye. Not too shabby for a car from 1976, though.
    Listed Colour; Brown
    Listed Body Type ; Saloon

So changed, I'd wonder would insurance cover anything if it crashed, or would they take the "boy racer modified car" line? A topic for another thread, maybe?

It costs a fortune to rent one of those yokes, too. Not sure, what Retro-camper are charging, but another crowd was charging somebody 480 EUR for 3 days.

Not my cuppa tay ... and definatly not at those rates.

There's a lot of work carried out on those vans (Retro Camper and the 'other crowd' (I assume Lazy Days?)), both restoration and maintenance. Well earned I'd say.

I know, what sort of work is involved. I've got old VW's myself. Just think, it's a lot of money for renting one and I don't think they're that suitable for camping really.

They're not really unsuitable, they were built for camping after all, but I agree, there are better modern options (rental rates on T5 California anyone?). The thing is that people just want to experience camping in the original VW campers, then they jump in and drive them 'til the dash lights come on, and then keep driving...

I think I know as well as you that the most economical way to do it is to buy wisely and sell up when you're done. Free camping. :D

Great day for Mosney, just a few gripes about the display format, because as I was driving out I saw all the trucks over to my right, didn't even know they were there and as for trying to organise your route thru the displays they were not in rows that would be easy to navigate, there were I rows, L and H displays so you though you'd covered it all THEN you saw another display ! Maybe signage and ground markings because the red/white tape prevents good shots of the cars -

Saleen S/Charged Mustang - wasn't impressed by sound when he revved it, too quiet

'Army' LR - with WH reg ! :P

    UR Quattro - rare beast

2 bays, and saw another blue one (WIO ?) in town later

Is that a Dialynx SWB Quattro or an original SWB one ? I'd say a Dialynx Quattro. Still, a very rare car.

    II

El Camino - nearly bought one of those in Beaumont years ago

    Camaro - the dog's b.....

Volga - THIS was a body mounted on a Lexus / Audi frame - it was RHD with leather interior

Crown - lovely rust free example, probably had the built in fridge in the boot

SSI 910 - Reg is right, BUT, plates are wrong ( original plates were Quinn style but stick on letters AFIR ), they were 2.8L or GL badging ( the card says 2.0 engine) . If he fixed the plates, badging and removed the plastic wing aerial (and the engine?) then he'd be getting there
