Every day driver as well, inside was real tidy..

Original irish,July 1977 reg Lotus Eclat(i think?) For sale in aherns garage in castleisland.Bit ropey around the edges,needs a good cleaning at the very least..

That's Mick Ahern's car, isn't it? I remember that being in the old showroom in the town about 15 years ago, with the one light up and one light down!

He used to have an old Kadett, too with a XX KY XX re-reg on it. My memory says 1938, but I'm not too sure. Wikipedia says they were built from 1937 to 1940.

Pretty sure that Lotus is post 1977, judging by the rear lights for starters.

Interesting,the reg is definatly july 77.Maybe it was modified?
There was alot of chat about the ***BIN reg merc that was for sale there a few months back too.

Came up on Mywheels as having a 3.0L engine, the real thing had a 3.6L engine. I'd say it's just a GSi 3000 with a bodykit. Also according to the site, it was originally red and hasn't been taxed since 1998 :eek:

Seems the original car was written off and re-shelled into a re sprayed 3000 GSi shell so in classic terms it's a bodge job!

But it does have the proper 3.6 litre twin turbo running gear.

What year is that reg? My older brother used to have a Mk 2 Escort which he bought new with the reg 237 LI, he didn't want a ZLI *** reg so he drove it round for about 6 months with hand written cardboard "For Reg" plates on it, God be with the days!

Around late '78ish.There was a MK4 Cortina for sale lately in Irish Vintage with a ZLI reg.Yup,those were the days alright!

Just passed a 300SL Gullwing on the road between Oranmore and Clarenbridge.
Never thought I'd see one..... I nearly had a trouser accident.
What a beautiful car.
Didn;t even get to check the reg.........in too much awe!!!!

..............there are at least 4 that I know of and another 3 Roadsters. If it was a silver LHD one it was probably travelling up for the Cannonball event !

Paris today. Classic Cars are practically non-existant. Every day cars Ive seen are Renault 25(lots of, more than Safrane's..),21,11,5. Peugeot 104 x 2, Citroen 2cv x 2....:mad:, Alfa Romeo Spider and a nice Peugeot 404 convertible that had a lot of web cams attached to it, maybe for youtube or live tv.

Renault 8 and 5 Turbo are from Renault's own historic collection, on view at their Champs Elysee showroom.

There was some sort of DeLorean owners club event on on Sunday, I passed about 15 or so on the M4 araound mid-day.

it certainly is. I called into a garage in belgium recently where a similiar one was in the showroom.. the boot lid was open and I glanced in. Something looked a bit too modern. the owner had put in a renault megane engine!
this was a r8 rather than a gordini and i think it was for racing.
