Today I saw a classic and took a pic thread!

Here's about 200 pics I took last weekend in Grainau at the foot of the Zugspitze mountain in the German Alps. I came across this classic and vintage hill climb purely by accident when I took the road less traveled. But just happened to have my camera and tri-pod in my back pack.

How was that for a stroke of luck

Thanks Hermy....Great Photo... Never heard about any drive-through movie going on in the Park!!
... good timing with the photo, as its only about a minute away from the Charger going up in flames and McQueen buckling the 'stang through the gravel and into a ditch!!

Lads I didn't get a pic and I hate when people post on this thread without pics but I saw a minter RR Silver Shadow Coupe 70 WW XXXX - gold with cream or beige interior on the green today.

It was a fantastic looking I must say and looked immaculate, and such road presence.

I felt like laying my jacket over a puddle it was about to drive through.

Edit: da internet tells me it was actually a Mulliner Park Ward Coupe. Bit rare me thinks

Reg was 6329 ni, which shows up as a hillman hunter, any reason for that?



This is not the actual car that i saw, but similar so people will know what i am refering to,

the usual reason is due to the vehicle being a ringer..(.im not saying that this one is)

But if you were to ring a car,surely you would ring like with like? A hunter is a far way from a rancho?Was it a kit car of some sort that you were mistaking it for?

No, it was a rancho, no doubt about that, and i assume from the number that its an original irish car as well.

I think that car you saw is a kit car, cos I did see something with a number like that years ago, white if i can recall, i think it was a Dutton. The Rancho is a variant of the Simca 1100 van.

sorry, but thats not it, i will ask around the west cork club, and get more details, i cant imagine anyone going to the trouble of making a kit car like this, it was perfect, and was a rancho.....(im going to stamp my feet next!!!!)

I was in Nijmegen in holland at the weekend,theres always interesting cars driving around the place,seems to be at least one older car in most streets and carparks and lots of elderly american stuff driving around also.Main problem was getting the camera out quickly enough to shoot stuff driving past.
Heres a sample of older cars i saw in the space of an hour just walking around on sunday.

It was Kevin, it made 5500 sterling iirc, really only paint damage and needed a windscreen. The Aston was a beauty.

really sorry lads but i dont have a pic so this was ripped from google.

but anybody who was at the LongMile Road - Naas Road intersection would've saw one of these with no paint (two different shades of grey like a chalk board) and on a small trailer being pulled by a van,

no reg plates and roof seemed to be a hard top.

It's in fact a Horch 853 Sport Cabriolet from 1935-1937. A special bodied version of this car (Voll & Ruhrbeck) won the prestigious Pebble Peach concours in the US this year! I recall the ad for that: 'from only 6650 including delivery and numberplates.' I think. Ultra cheap remakes of old Japanese cars was a more successful strategy for them than the later one of trying to do their own cars, which people were less interested in, simply because they cost more.

I saw a W111 Coupe at a recent show that had been fitted with Fintail SE rear lamps, not quite as bad a botch job as this one but very odd all the same !
