I'm not sure who owned it from new.
I knew it to be owned for many years by Edmond Cassidy, I think he passed it on to Des Cullen.

I remember this car many years ago, I spotted it and a white one ????IK in a yard off Merrion Square. Traced the owner who was Louis Murray (night club owner & hotellier). He owned both. Tried to buy at the time but the price was too high

I will ask my mate who now owns it, the full history and will let you know but from what i know there was a night club owner who had it.

was he cassidy wine? there used be a garage on the cabinteely by-pass that always had the arse of a white e-type sticking out of it i think it was his too ,there were two more in a yard in kilmacanogue where the honda garage is now ,anybody remember them.

No Cassidy of Cesco- you see the name alot on hand driers in pubs, it stands for Cassidy Electrical Supply Company.

They are heavily involved in historic car racing.

Thats a Series 3 109", Defender was not out for a good few years after that. Also note that the reg is listed as an 88" on my wheels.

Dont think thats the answer either,old regs should be left where they are,it would just get messy as you wouldnt have an idea of what was original,besides too much of that goes on anyway. It would have to be an unused series to diffrienciate imported cars,although not with the stupid 5 digits. But thats just my personal opinion.I know most people dont care.

Many counties had lots of unused numbers left in 1986..it was mostly Dublin, Cork etc who were running low on combinations. For example, Carlow still has c.30,000 unused combinations.

I agree about ZV ***** plates - they look totally wrong!

Yes..oops..femanagh,i always forget about the northern marks for some reason.:P

Only VI so unused in its entirety,though as has been pointed out,there is loads of unused marks from the original series.

That sounds promising. This time, instead of going from VI 1 to VI 99999999999999999999999999 like they did with the ZV plates, it should run AVI 1 to ZVI 999, then 1 AVI to 999 ZVI, then VI 1 to VI 9999 and 1 VI to 9999 VI. That should keep things going for a while.

And also why not catagorise by age instead of County, VI XXX from1900-1930
VI XXXX from1930-1960,AVI XXX from1960-1986,and so on.
It wont be an exact representation but would be more in keeping.

Yes..this would be better that whats going on now.Yes,i know that when the ZV system was introduced originally there wasnt many cars being imported,but there really was no excuse for the 5 Digits.

In the original British system, letters Z and I were reserved for Ireland whilst Scotland got G, S and V

Definatly,the uncle had an 84 one,three cylinder turbo,a little green light came on on the dash when the turbo was boosting,twas a little flyer for its time.
