    Does anyone know of some good links on the web regarding setting up a Q server/playing Quake on Linux.

    Yup have a look at:

    doing it my self....
    aint to hard as far as i know you get you normal quake setup set up on the machine
    ie all the right dir's in the right place...
    Then get (d/l) quakworld, which every version suits your system, extract it in to the quake dir.
    Yaa need to give access to the game to some of the consoles on the system
    so you need to have root accesss.

    I have not looked but it should be at that page.
