Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Gas Boiler location

    Guys,

Need to get my gas boiler moved from an upstairs (small) bedroom to a utility room downstairs. The utility room is beside the bathroom. The vent will be through the single storey roof (its in an extension). Are there any regulations that disallow a boiler to be beside a bathroom? Can I put the boiler *outside*, hanging off the back wall?

Also the feccin meter is on the ground in the sitting room, poxy job. Cant believe bord gais recommend these chumps and then they put the meter on the feccin floor! How much will bord gais charge for this to be moved also? Considering that they did a crap job when they installed it, I should get a discount now? ta.

    Hi,

There are rules relating to the the position of a Balanced flue, simple through the wall type and the nearest windows, distance from corners etc.

You need a Certified Installer to move the boiler it is not a job for the average plumber.

While Bord Gais are responsible for the pipe to the meter they do not install the boilers, that work is carried out by installers supposed to be approved by them, to get your gas supply commissioned (turned on) you need either a cert from the approved installer that everything is up to Bord Gais standards or Bord Gais will send out an inspector to certify the installation at your expense.

If the boiler is moved by a person who is not qualified to do so and anything goes wrong like fumes entering your home you or the plumber if you can find him are responsible.

Work not to be carried out by just anyone ;)

Regulations state that the out let has to be a certain distance from a window. Think it's five foot.
