The college will be setting up a Wireless network in the main Galway Campus.
The hot spots will be in the new building in the open space where the reception is, the canteen and Board room
Don't know about the library yet.

The wireless network will be running on a separate Internet line then the campus connection for security reasons. They are looking at a 2Mbit ADSL line and it will only allow web browsing and email. No connection to the any of the Novell service or printer service. a bit poor i think so.

Registration to the network will be thru CS(computer services)

Well it's at last the college is setting up a Wireless network. We must be the last IT,never mind Uni to setup a wireless network in Ireland. NUIG has had Wi-Fi since 2000!
Remember the new building is about Learning thru the use of IT. They would want to live up to that fast. They may have a cool new building and new computer hardware. but the services behind this do not live up to it!

It just shows that they have a poor understanding of security and their own equipment if they have to get a seperate DSL line for it... Its not the last IT BTW alot of the others still have to catch up. :(
