I'm glad to see Hideo back, pretty nice the way they confirmed him back like that.

I'm hoping to see Raiden and Meryl back, I saw a picture somewhere, a drawing that had all the characters.

thats without a doubt the best video i've seen so far.

    classic :D

    Is Hideo seriously back?

What did he have to say about coming back?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,836 ✭✭✭Vokes

Yeah, he's back for MGS4. Thought he had actually jumped ship myself, hmmm, guess not. Its just a video to say he's developing/directing it, no actual MGS4 footage.

Can't decide for myself if Kojima doing the next game is a good/bad thing. Snake Eater was so-so..

The trailer explains that hes back. But hes only co-director though, as long as designer, producer etc.

That Sam Fisher thing was great.

Good the way it said "New place to hide and seek" confirming the whole "no place to hide thing" was BS.

alan smithee is the name that directors use, when they dont want people to know they directed it on his own (i think).

so that means he is back. :)

no, i was wrong, he's co directing it with Yutaka Negeshi

Ughhh you want to see those 2 goons back? Why oh why.

I thought Hideo had confirmed weeks ago that he would be directing the 4th installment.

That video is excellent, looks like they won't be using raiden. Thank god.

Alan Smithee is actually a name Directors use when the studios force them to make cuts they dont want to make, and therefore the director doesn't want his name going on the finished movie, as its not so much his, as the movie studios.

Anyone have a non-streaming link that doesn't require me to sign up to some site?

It's on IGN.com somewhere, just look through the e3 section.

I have to say, I don't want to see Meryl returning (
after MGS2 ignored her, I assumed she was dead
), and for Raiden maybe a small part.
The bit with Raiden winking was classic (he's so dreamy!).

Yeah, the low def version is actually freely available on IGN. It's only the high def one that you have to sign up for.

    Ehh Hideo Kojima back???

I wasnt aware he left, sure there were rumours that he wouldnt be involved as much in the 4th, but he wasnt 'away'? (That gamecube one dosent count)

Still its good stuff anyway, liked the video, cant wait to see a 'proper' one, can still remember vividly the MGS2!

that video was done using the MGS3 engine, so i wanna see the PS3 version of it.

I cant imagine Snake looking better than he does in MGS3, I know he will of course. Can't wait.

just curious how people feel about this:

Do you want anymore prequels after MGS4? I dont mean something like twin snakes but something like snake eater, filling in gaps of the past.

Personnally i would like to see a game done on Grey Fox. Sort of bridging the gap between snake and solid snake. I mentioned in the snake eater thread that solid snake compared to snake had a real defiant streak to him and i got thinking could this be because of Grey Fox? Grey Fox and sanke were meant to be like brothers with big boss over them, so i would like to see a grey fox game with maybe a younger solid snake on the codec and big boss giving out orders. Also it allows to develop more on the formation of fox hound (how people like Ocelot etc joined)

I was thinking about that myself, maybe a Foxhound's first mission kind of thing. It could reveal a little more about the post-MGS3 Big Boss, aswell as building up Grey Fox's character.

Those games are already available. Get yourself an msx emulator and the fan translated roms of metal gear and solid snake (don't touch the NES games). The Grey Fox story of MGS is a much more emotionally involving story after playing these two games. Saying that I'd love a modern remake of the first two games. The stories are as good as MGS only the gameplay would need refinement.

i know the two MSX games fill in the death of Grey Fox, but as Crucifix put it, i'd like to see his first mission, how he got to be number one before solid snake and this will allow more exploration into Big boss and maybe even how Ocelot got into Foxhound (admit it you want to see a scene where he meets big boss and goes "JOHN!")

And the re-release of MGS3 will include the two msx versions of the metal gear 1 and 2 so i'll pick that up (plus a new camera system)

    also
does anyone else feel combining the endings of both MGS2 and 3 = Big Boss could be the Patriots alone...in some roundabout way

Not sure if it's getting a european release. I'll have to ask.

I wouldn't mind if they made a game where you played Grey Fox in his earlier missions or how he became aligned with Zanzibar Land and Big Boss between MG and SS.

    Not too sure myself.

There was a huge lashback over the Radien incident, and not just because he was bent, but because he wasn't Snake.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 51,400 CMod ✭✭✭✭Retr0gamer

But Grey Fox is a real hard ass and not a wingey little punk with a moany girlfriend annoying him every five seconds about their anniversary.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,673 ✭✭✭✭senordingdong

And like I said, the lash-back wasn't just becasue Raiden was a whiney shemale, but because he just plain wasn't Snake.

    But he's the NINJA!

there was backlash in the MGS special missions because you couldnt play as him as in depth as everyone wanted!
