Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

the catholic church have once again ruined this one.....u are not allowed to have any "modern music" played at a funeral.....only hymns......i think it does mostely depend on the priest but they have been told new rules about what to allow and what not to allow at funerals!!! No photos, only one spray of flowers on the altar, no personal speechs and no music......my dad died recently and im glad to say that out priest saw sense and let us do what we wanted....we played "time to say goodbye" by andrew bochelli.....it was lovely

Well I wouldn't be having a Catholic or indeed a religious funeral at all. Just an event for people to pay their respects. In any case my first choice above is a band with an album on the index of banned media from the Vatican.

I was at a funeral recently where the priest allowed music to be played. The unfortunate thing was the CD/Tape kept skipping, it was a real Alan Partridge moment, very cringeworthy.

I'd probably have "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley played at mine, although I haven't given it much thought to be honest.

probably would'nt get away with playing it at a funeral but i'd give it a shot
Rammstein - Asche zu Asche :)
if that's a little too fast and hard for them they could pop on Rammstein - Ohne Dich (for a nice ballad)
mind you that would probably confuss the hell out of people as i'm sure no one i nkow speaks a word of german...nor do i but hey it's good music :)

'Oh Holy Night', I know that sounds a bit bizarre, but I've considered my funeral song before, and its such a good song. Perhaps I'll try to die around christmas, so it seems to make more sense.

    highway to hell

    it has to be!

Damn you! When I saw the thread topic I was going to post that!

Eh since Highway to Hell is already taken i'll go for Death on the Stairs by The Libertines. Not only that its a song that constantly mentions death, kill me and ghosts its one of my favourite uplifting tunes of all time. It will get everyone dancing at my funeral which I would love!

That's a great choice. I knew someone who had that played at their funeral. Sad but not soul destroying.

Beautiful - Just so many options from JC's 'American IV: The Man Comes Around' album alone. We'll meet again, or Hurt, or 'First Time Ever I Saw Your Face' for my daughter of course. T'was written by Ewan McCall about the birth of his daughter Kirsty (she of Fairytale of New York amongst other things) afaik.

I actually have an Itunes playlist of the tracks to be played at my (non-church) funeral, believe it or not. Some Tom Waits, some REM, a bit of U2. The food won't be served until they've listened to all the tracks. I'll finish with Celebrate, by An Emotional Fish (currently being used by Eircom in the ad campaign) - "Celebrate, the party's over, I'm going home......"

November Rain i would rather keep for my wedding - if that ever happens.

Maybe Don't You Cry for my funeral.

However i'd like something funny to cheer up the people, like Another One Bites The Dust for a burial or Disco Inferno for a cremation.

A friend of my parents died a few years back and members of Kila played at his graveside. It was supposed to be really beautiful. Id like something like that. Perhaps the lads in the samba band or djembe group would do something for me.

    Well, in the churchy/thoughtful part:

    Jeff Buckley - Satisfied Mind
Elvis - Peace in the Valley

    Then at the cremation:

Disco Inferno - hee hee. I couldn't go out wihtout a laugh!
