Give em a ring and they will push the config file to you CM from the DHCP server....make sure you have account details etc to hand...

Sorry what's all this about? I have NTL BB, the last I heard I had 1MB BB. Are they/have they upgraded to 3MB?? If so how much?

    Cheers!!

Will I have to give them a buzz for them to change me over or should it change automatically? I never noticed my speeds being really fast if it is 3MB. And how come the price has gone down? I was paying €50 per month for 1MB BB.

Presumably you were paying €50 for 1.5Mbps/256kbps.
That's been automagically upgraded for free to 3.0Mbps/300kbps.

Check your speed here and post your results.

    These are the results:

    Mon, 30 May 2005 19:03:20 UTC
    1st 128K took 16 ms = 8192000 Bytes/sec = approx 68157 kbits/sec
    2nd 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec
    3rd 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec
    4th 128K took 0 ms = Infinity Bytes/sec = approx Infinity kbits/sec

These results appear to be rather fast: maybe this page was in the browser cache.

don't you have to power off/on the modem for the upgrade to take affect ?
I did this 2 weeks ago and got the upgrade there and then,.. :)

My cable modem was updated automatically with no power cycling - I have it on all the time for VoIP.

'stephen p' - you need to run the test again (from ther server) coz those values are based on your cache not your internet connection.
Click on the hyperlink on the test page at the end of the line where it says:
"To repeat this test from the source server click here."

Definitely give ntl a phonecall and get it sorted.

In the meantime, have a look at your modem config page
    - type http://192.168.100.1/ into your browser,
    - username/password is root/root, or admin/admin
    - Click on the Operation/Configuration link on the left:
    - Do you have values like:
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 2048000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 200000 bps

Then, just to rule it out
    - switch off and unplug your modem for 3 minutes
    - switch it back on again

Then check your modem config page again, and rerun the speedtest again.

    Cheers,
I did that and the result is:
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 3072000 bps
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 300000 bps

Is anyone getting the full whack of their 3mbps? My speed tests range from 1.7 mbps to 2.15 mbps - nowhere near the 3. The uploads are consitently at 280-290 kbps.

I'm thinking that the 2mbps package is better value than the three.

I'm thinking that myself, such a small difference, and with the stability of throughput/latency since the upgrade being so bad i cba really keeping it on

    From that page :
There are some minimum system requirements you will need to access ntl's Broadband service, these are:

    * 15 e-mail accounts
    * 55MB of webspace
    * Access to over 30,000 newsgroups
    * The free use of a cable modem while you are on the service
    * Access to your email wherever you are with our Webmail service
    You have to laugh sometimes!!!
