It would be good for one attacker. The problem is carrying it around everywhere. Why do clothes manufacturers make such small pockets in jeans. You're lucky if you can fit your wallet and your keys into one.

I initially though that the pictures show from one spray, on impact, after 4 seconds, after 7 seconds. As in, I thought from the one impact spray, it expands like shaving foam for example to cover the whole face

So I wonder does it give the same stinging effect as pepper spray would?

I think it looks ok,

12ft meaning you can back away whilst reaching for it, take aim, spray at each guy/girl then if you want give them another going over and do a "pegger legger"

Well right after impact, it looks like it covers enough to blind them temporarily. Thats if you spray it right.

My two cents:

Forget about the knife, as already said... its a REALLY bad idea from every perspective.

Take up running, work on sprinting at least 400 metres pretty fast.

About 6 months ago I was almost mugged by two scumbags on the way into a city walking along minding my own business. They had bikes and attempted to stop before and after me to corner me. I changed course and thought I'd lost them up another street.... until I hear them pedalling like hells angels after me. Same thing happens, one hops off in front of me, the other behind. I just did a total legger and got away luckily.

When in doubt just run. I wouldn't go for "target the Alpha male", etc.... because what happens if you miss and they pummel you? Just get the hell out of there and don't do anything to piss them off anymore.

Can't beat the adrenalin rush you get running from a scumbag, if you are drunk you will also get superhuman powers too. I am one of the most unfit bastards I know, but I remember sprinting for my life and scaling walls and gates like a monkey to get away from a gang of scum

as my dad once said "take a shít in your hand and run after them" . I always thought that was a good one and even though he was joking, I think (ya never know what he'd do), it would be pretty effective

i recently bought another sword quite like this but better imo in dublin but i dont really suggest getting one unless you do the old martial arts like me
me and my friend got one at the same time(matching colours of red and black)
and when we got home the first thing we saw were knacks that minded their own business (maybe they didnt like my slayer t shirt "5 out of 5 kids that kill love slayer" and my friends 'i kill for fun t shirt


but anyway knife is a stupid idea run like the bejaysus and if theres only one give him a bit of a thrashin' if yer able otherwise run!

If someone attacked me with a knife, and I got the upper hand, my response would be "he attacked me with a lethal weapon, revenge is nigh". I'd then show the scumbag how a knife can hurt.

OP, if your friend pulls a knife, and the scumbag also pulls a knife, the scumbag will not just mug your friend, he'll ensure your friend can't run after them. People get killed for less.

Carrying a knife is a stupid idea, the best weopans for self defence are your fists, knowledge and confidence. Im a black belt lt in taekwondo and for years we were thought if anything happens like that situation, one good enough shot like a punch to the throat or kick to the nuts will stun the scumbag for that second that you need to sprint off as fast as you can. even being a black belt doesnt make you think you can stand there and kick the **** out of a mugger but if you can do something to give you time to run its much better.

the guy who this tread is originally about should join some form of martial arts or boxing to give him that confidence he needs.

Anything you have on you can be used as weapon, don't be going off getting a knife. The end of a bottle, a key wedged in between yuor fingers, a jacket with zips. None of these can really be seen as weapons in court, yet would be very effective. Use your imagination!

It's against the law to carry a knife, or to stab someone with the knife even in self defence. The gardai will charge your friend if they stop him and find it. The only way to beat this type of thing is to work with the community officer of the local gardai, bring it up at community meetings, set up neighbourhood watch etc. When the scumbags get run off that patch, then people wont get mugged walking around anymore.

Or, just tell your mate to move to a nice area on the southside.

A few years ago there was this lad in my school who when buying fireworks off some travellers got ripped off so a few days later he asked one of the travellers involved in ripping him off for a straightner your man brought down a knive and just as there about to fight he pulled it out on the traveller,the traveller went for him so he went to stab the traveller but he didnt get enough power into the stabbing motion so it just ripped the travellers jacket,the traveller grabbed it off him and stabbed him twice in the leg.

What about one of those personal alarm things.

Their not illegal - you just pop a button or pull a cord and they let a SERIOUSLY PIERCING alarm. Like so loud you could not ignore it or hang around for long.

Definitely better than getting a knife or learning Pilates or something...

Get a batton, or some kind of beating stick.. serious.. like go to a martial arts shop[ and get one.. becasue alot of them are only useful if used correctly.. so they wont really be able to reverse it on you..
