Cool, must watch out for that...

What?! Madness, though at least they picked a good song for it. Can't wait to hear it live. Must acquire some sort of ID... Who wants to give me one. I look quite like my avatar if it helps.

And the other week RTE used a song off ...And Justice For All

Dunno if anyone noticed but someone with a bit of taste works on Eastenders. I have heard the likes of ween,Soundgarden,Metallica and even Biohazard on it.

Not that I look at Eastenders or anything!!!

Anyone remember a few years ago (5 or 6?) when they used Metallica's Unforgiven interlude for the snooker championships? (cannot remember which one)

Ahhhh Metallica is one thing but if the biddies of the bog realised they were using a song about Josef Mengele to pimp a couple of shows there might be just a little trouble for rte

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭nadir

heh, is trendy a good thing?
I was kinda getting into the whole being unpopular vibe

^ Yeah I know what you mean, you feel proud when surrounded by people who like R 'n' B and dance and they ask you "what music do you like" ?? "Well I like <Insert metal choice here>" and they back off and ignore you...feels great :)

    Its not all that odd.
Fear Factory had either self biased resistor or HK used for a Sony flatscreen a few years back I can't remember which.
I think in the states that a band called Diecast have one of their songs used for Volkswagen Jetta and over here Rammstein are used in a Mercedes add.
I doesn't happen all the time but it is cool when it does...
Maybe for RTE though it is just a metaller chancing his arm. I know a few people who work for TG4 and if they got away with it we would be watching and listening to some very warped stuff

it's not metal, but I remember hearing rte or tg4 using a moldy peaches song.
    that was nice

I get that, but I insert Enya to the above sentance! lol My taste is music I'd say is much more out there than most. ;)

Think RTE used "Battery" to promote the Compromise Rules games last year - remember the ad with the two lunatics squaring off against each other?

Another one that springs to mind (although not Rock slash Metal) was "Windowlicker" on that Mercedes ad (or at leat the end of the track)

I was watching a program on Channel 4 about Guantanamo and it had reconstructions of torture methods and one of the methods is to use abrasive music. I know Metallica have been used a lot but the music they used on this program was a song by Throbbing Gristle called "Subhuman". It's great hearing TG on TV.

i was both shocked and amazed in equal measure-1st of all that they know who slayer are, and second of all to have it on an ad for itself. hope its a sign of things to come!

yeah i found myself headbanging when this came on and then it was like, hang on a minute i didnt put the stereo on, where is this coming from? TV?!!!? arghhh, no wait a minute not just any TV, RTE?!?!? wtf?!!? the church will be coming down to make us repent.

It is madness but in fairness, lately ive noticed this a lot, on the ads theyre playing a lot of metal type stuff, whats going on?, i guess the new person whos in charge of the music for the ads is a metal head eh? :D

Well in fairness, Slayer are hardly underground at this stage.

now that they've had Raining Blood on South Park.

Its not metal, but there's another ad doing the rounds right now that has Jesus and Mary Chain on it.
I remember they used NIN's Perfect Drug to advertise Vodafone.
And there's an episode of Spongebob Aquarepants thats just Pantera being played for 20 minutes

Fear Factory's into for "Cars" (Obsolete)was used in that ad for the credit card with the goldfish on it for quite a while.

    =-=

I'd say they're trying to get the "young" people interested in the shows, by showing "young people's" "hip" music. Sorry, but metal is followed by lots of wannabe's, and RTE is just using it untill it is no longer usefull.

Was that not the original version of Cars by Gary Numan?

Don't think so. The cords of the song sounded the same. Wasn't the whole song, just the first 5 seconds, in a loop.

It was the original, the intros are similar but it was the original as far as I remember.

    Conforming is the new non-conformity.

Also, there's a Lamb of God song being used to advertise that Wanadoo broadband at the moment :)
