i think BT only consider themselves to be in competition with Eircom

in fairness if you compare BT new offer to the eircon talktime it is a good bit cheaper

€63.82 compared to €79.98 from eircon for line rental broadband and local and national calls

To be fair to BT Ireland, their phone service is excellent value if you make a lot of calls.

They were the first company in Ireland to offer proper flat rate national dialling i.e. you could call anywhere in Ireland (north or south) for up to 60 mins for a flat monthly fee at anytime.

Their international and mobile rates are FAR better than eircom.

I changed over years ago and our phone bills actually became affordable for once!

Their broadband prices arn't that much cheaper, but if you bundle it with the liner rental and phone service it's an excellent offer.

Smart's telephone service is not as cheap by a long shot if you use your phone a lot. They're fine if you're only making mostly local calls.
That smart-to-smart thing is a bit limited (free calls between smart customers)

I'd rather have EsatBT to anyone anytime!

I don,t use the phone a lot anyway.. so I find smarts offer still way better ....I've talked most people I know into singing for smart when available so that will keep the cost down as well...

I presume Smart still have higher speeds if/when its available.
