    Requirements:
Broadband Cheap and cheerful (not techie so as simple as possible)
    Can get
    Eircom, BT, UTV and NTL.
    Can't get
    Smart.

If there's a phone calls option thats worth my while, would look at that as well but don't to change the phone number.

    What's good or bad?

If it's cheap and cheerful with a phone package you want then UTV is probably the best option.
€29.99 for broadband which includes their phone package.
Free local, national and UK calls off peak.
You still pay line rental to eircom on top of that.
BE WARNED though, their tech support is woeful.

BT Ireland may be worth looking at aswell.
Broadband including line rental for €49
and the calls are reasonably cheap.

    NTL is not the CHEAPEST
nor does it contain a phone service

It's obvious that he currently has a phone already and uses it because he doesn't want to change his number so it probably is critical for him.
    Didn't know NTL had a €25 option though :o

If you've NTL available you'd be a muppet not to get it.

    Go with NTL.

That's the way I was thinking but with some of them now introducing free phone calls for a fee, was thinking maybe that was the way to go instead.
Phone bill is 120 Euro every 2 months including line rental.
