I need a program that will modify all the ID3 tags of all my mp3s. I use the following naming convention <artist> - <title> . I do not care about album titles etc.
I just need a small program that will run through all my mp3s and modify the Artist and Title fields with those contained in the filename of the song.

(My sister is after buying an iPod, that's why I need to do this)

"the godfather" it can be dloaded from a number of sources for free, so google to find one. Easy to use. There is also "tag and rename" again free and google has the sources.

It will. open the folder in the program and click on the "Filename - Tag" button.

I tried an excellent program: http://www.softartstudio.com/tagcontrol/

This allows you to use and define masks to grab the ID3 info from the filename and store it as tags, or vice-versa, so it sounds ideal for your purposes. Its only free for 30 days or something, but dead handy nonetheless.
