If someone told me Metallica were the greatest band ever but couldn't name but 2 or 3 other bands and couldn't give valid coherent reasons why they thought so then yes, I would say they were ignorant!

Why do they need to justify it they like metallica or tupac etc. shouldnt it be enough that they like the music cant you just say if you like whatever then youll like this artist there good too instead of classing them as ignorant.

Fair enough that they like the artist but when they come out with statements like "tupac rulez and every1 else sucks" etc it just proves that they are being ignorant, Ay Cee's analogy is a very good one, and shows that some people can make statements without researching them first, example being "liverpool are the best team in Europe because they won the champions league" but it is widely accepted that they are not the best team in Europe, simarily, "Eminem/2pac is the best rapper in the world coz they sold the most records" but just because they sell the most records or have success doesnt mean there aren't better rappers out there.

Hey look if someone comes along and says tupac rulez and every1 else sucks then thats just trolling and they should get kicked no probs but if theres a discussion and it gos off on a tangent and ends up being a 2pac discussion or whatever then whats the harm, you can esailly ignore it and keep talking about whatever the thread is about if you like.

I dont think the football analogy works very well at all. Usually people like a team cause they grew up liking them, ive a friend who likes bows god knows why but him thinking they are the best theam in the world has nothing to do with their standing on any league table its got to do with his passion for a team he grew up liking. Football usually means you like one team and hate all others in the league. With music you usually like one artist better than the rest but you can still listen to everyone else football is usually the exact opposite.

Look the point im trying to make is just let people be, if something gos off topic that happens. If someone is being a fanboy then as long as they arnt abusive towards someone or making personal attacks then ignore them. Too many newer posters stop posting after a few posts here and i dont blame them the reception anyone new gets is terrible, all the time snide remarks and sarcasim. Just look at the reply one of the newer poster got for asking what people think about the whole theory that 2pac is still alive.

can ye all stop fightin and ****. i dont care if people go on about 2pac that was kind of da whole point to see what other people think and if they love 2pac thats great. all i want is your opinion on the selected rappers not the people that talk about them.

Look if threads go off topic I'm going to start locking them.
There is absolutely nothing what so ever stopping people starting new threads to discuss topics. I have no problem with sway in a thread, it doesn't have to be rigidly stuck to one topic of conversation per say, but if they start going off in tangents where a whole new topic is being discussed where it should be a new thread then I'm going to nip it in the bud.

As for the stance with new posters. Yes, often they are giving the short end of the stick when they start posting, but it wouldn't hurt for them to ease themselves in either. Posting stuff that has been posted plenty of times before will not win anybody any favours on any board. Test the waters first, it's not like everyone here is an asshole but people do tire of the same topics coming up every other week. It's usually the same thing over and over, a new poster comes on the scene posts a few times or starts a new thread, makes a one line post "insert name here rules, blah blah", regular posters then get a bit miffed by it and make a sharp retort.

This isnt the most heavily populated board and there is a core base of regular posters, a lot of these newbies blow in and out of the forum. Maybe they would stick around if they didn't get some of the replies they do receive but I still think they would be better off easing themselves into the forum rather than flooding it in one posting spree and pissing a lot of people off.

As for 2pac threads, which got this whole conversation going, most of the threads and posts about him have been done over and over. It gets to a stage where it becomes annoying. Granted they can be ignored, and I would prefer if people have nothing to contribute to a thread other than a smart remark, that they don't bother posting it, but I also understand why they get annoyed by it. Also, 2pac threads in particular are quite conducive to trolling and flaming anyway.

I feel other than ignoring threads another aspect that would go a great way towards cutting out the crap would be if people made constructive posts. A one line opening post is not a great way to start a discussion, if a little bit more thought was put into those posts I think other posters would be more likely to make constructive contributions to threads. The thread about Kanye West lyrics is a good example of this, it may have been off topic but it was a decent thread and not just full of stupid one line retorts.

ill i wanted was there opinion not to go start fightin its ****ed up. it can be annoying but posters dont need to be givin out to and ****. when people start givin out about talkin a bit to much about 2pac wat good does it do. it just gets more people talkin about 2pac and football teams for some reason.
