Rathmines has a rich and varied history, from farmland to flatland. Rathmines has developed its own identity through the Township Commissioners of 1847, unique housing and development in the 1900s and a distinctive urban fabric from more recent economic success.

This walking tour charts the development of Rathmines as Ireland's first suburb through the people, environments and events that helped to shape it.

The tour lasts about one hour and takes place every Sunday morning at 11am. Meet at the front of the Library. The tour is free and all are welcome. Clothing suitable to the weather is advised.

[font=&quot]Numbers are limited so please book in advance by emailing Eoin on walkingtours@eircom.net to book a place.
