Committee recommends READSL2 in local loop

A committee of experts convened by French telecoms regulator ART has given the body a favourable opinion on the introduction of Reach Extended ADSL2 (READSL2) technology in the local loop. The committee is chaired by Lucent’s Catherine Mancini, and includes representatives of France Telecom, unbundled service poroviders, and DSLAM and DSL modem makers. READSL2 makes it possible to extend ADSL signals to higher distances from exchanges for throughputs up to 512 kbps.
