According to that stupid poll which only allows you to be negative about it? I'd say your stats are ****e to be honest.
You are entitled to your opinion, I also dont like them on blokes, but the whole gay thing is a trolls approach.
Well, I didn't make the poll. I voted for the option I felt most appropriate.

Yes but now you are basing an argument on the results of it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 51 ✭✭Humpty D

No, I'm not. I'm basing PART of my argument on it, because it's there. I think naval piercings on men looks gay - bottom line.

It's still a troll, whether it started as such or not is another thing it is definitely negatively skewed now and is trolling.
Woah, woah, woah, I don't want my name connected with trolling okay? It's not a troll. I wanted to know what people thought cos' it's come up in conversation with my friends a few times and I wanted a larger perspective. If you don't like the poll options talk to the mod. cos' I had different (although errored) options in the beginning. You get the idea though. Just use the first 2 options and disregard the gender element of them.

Well then maybe you just need to grow up then.

What does that have to do with anything?! What have I done that warrants needing to grow up? Maybe you should just admit to being wrong about this being a troll and leave the thread alone cos' it was pretty interesting before you started complaining.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,733 ✭✭✭Blub2k4

it was pretty interesting before you started complaining.

Ah you mean the flaming over whether people look gay or not, see that's where you need to grow up.
If you had not been trolling you would have put up a proper poll that had all sides and was not basing itself on the rather "childish" notion that a piercing looks gay, what looks gay exactly? Do you recognise gays on the street?
I suggest that a more mature poll would have asked something like, does it look effeminate, and there would have been more options than the juvenile crap which remained as a supposed poll. If it had been phrased correctly you would not have had people all throughout the thread bouncing back allegations about insecurity etc and a proper discssion may have ensued, but it didn't it turned into flaming which you found "interesting" (your words not mine).

So you post a poll using language designed to get peoples backs up (if you cant see this ....Q.E.D) then you find the ensuing arguments to be "interesting" and you wonder why I say you are a troll or need to grow up.

I think it must be the latter as your mind seems not to have progressed beyond the schoolyard as I honestly believe you dont understand how you are trolling, only thing that remains is your immaturity.

I would assume a man is gay if he has a belly button piercing.

Not because I am insecure or some bollox like that, but because being a male myself, and knowing what typical males like and dislike, piercing your belly button is not one of them.

Of course, I do lots of things most typical males do not do, but doing something which is pretty much female specific, is... gay.

    It's like asking
    ...should men wear makeup? GAY!
...should men have pigtairs in their hair? GAY!
...should men get a tattoo of a naked man on his body? GAY!

Sure, all men are in their right to do the above, but why would the male brain want to do that? It's just not ...normal.

Here's a trivia question - John has a belly button piercing. Where is he drinking tonight, The Porterhouse or The Front Lounge?

Note: people who are into piercings, and have piercings everywhere, should not be included in this debate. If it is for "oooh! i will get my belly button pierced today, my first piercing!" it makes more sense...

I know men, who have they're belly buttons pierced..and they really are as man as you can get, and total metalers...but seriously, therse people have had muliple belly piercings for the last 10 years or more.....before belly button piercings got popular, i saw people, to think it was really cool, cos they never really saw it as much...but now it's related as being a girl piercing and i think it's so stupid...piercings are piercings...people get them done for different reasons and to assume someone is gay for having certain things done, really takes away from it....I know people, who get so pissed off because they feel they're discriminated against for being heavily pierced, and they're pissed that people aren't open minded enough to take them for who they are...it's the same with male navel piercings...it's there choice..if they like it, they like it, no matter what their sex is, and it's not for anyone else to judge or assume anything about them just cos they have a certain thing done...any guy i know with it pierced, is without a doubt straight, also they have other piercings...and they have plain silver jewerllry in their navel piercings...no diamonds..nothing!!maybe, i just don't think it's wrond, cos i've grown up with loads of people etting pierced around me, so i was always used to it...but i'm sure that's the same for a lot of people here.

oh..any of ye know paddy o-donouge...piercer of body shock...he has his belly button pierced....is he gay??and it's not different cos he's a piercer...he has a son by the way..and as far as i know still with his girlfriend..i'm just making a point.stop being sterotypical...

by the way..this isn't aimed at everyone, but this thread is so stupid and pointless...who cares...close the damn thing!

Eh, no, sorry, you made that point about me needing to grow up before I said anything about it being interesting. You can't really retort with that.

We've been over this, I didn't put up those options. My original ones did cover the whole spectrum making no reference to sexual preference (however I messed them up). I never made any reference to navel piercings on males looking gay. I asked if people thought they looked good. In fact, I don't think navel piercings on guys look gay at all. I don't even think they look bad! And yes, I do find people arguing over stuff interesting. It's fun to see the crap they come up with.:)

Well I would have liked this all to get back on topic but I guess it's not gonna now so closing it would be the best thing. If you still think I'm some gay basher then you can PM me.

To be clear, I had nothing to do with the gay issue. I named the thread "Hot or Not" not "Gay or Not". Someone mentioned it looking gay and people moved to that issue. Fair enough but it's hardly my fault. I was looking for people's opinions on whether it looked hot cos' it's popped up in conversation a few times and I thought it was a quirky idea. I would have liked people to have stayed more civilised and such but that didn't happen and I can't help finding arguments interesting. They. Just. Are.

So, stop associating me with the gay thing.

    Buh bye.

    there...back on topic...

You can do what you want, and it shouldn't affect how people think of you. I'm straight, yet have nothing against any of the above things that you label as gay. And as to what the male brain thinks of as "normal", that's opening the door for so much more argument. There is no "normal". There's only what you've come to accept as normal. Just because it doesn't fit into your spectrum of normality doesn't mean it's not perfectly normal. It just isn't to you.

I define normal as what the majority of people consider "normal". I think it is fair to say you are a rarity in that you think a man who -

    wears makeup
    has pigtails in his hair
has a tattoo of a naked man on his body
and has a pirced belly button

    - is "normal". That is just not normal. It is gay. Or insane. It is NOT normal!

    :)
