Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The final stage of Dublin's M50 motorway is reportedly due to open to traffic at the end of this month after years of legal wrangling.
Reports this morning said Environment Minister Martin Cullen would officially open the road on June 30th, two years behind its original schedule.

The road has been delayed due to protests and court cases relating to Carrickmines Castle, the ruins of which have been partially destroyed to make way for the motorway.

That means a continuous dual caariageway/motorway from Dundalk->Airport->M50->Rathnew (a few miles beyond acksherly)

though the widening roadworks will be starting on the western parkway section soon so anyone looking for a clear run down the finally completed M50 will have a fairly short window of opportunity (and would have to do it at night obviously)

ONLY 2 years slow? *gasp* They must be copping on, or something!

I thought it was only the bit between the M11 and Cherrywood that was opening at the end of June, and that the rest was due to open later in the year?

See existing thread - it is the M50 from Sandyford to M11 that is opening

It would seem then, if this is true, that they've made up a lot of time on the Sandyford to Cherrywood section then. Either that or they'll probably open it prematurely, like they did with the Glen of the Downs section of the N11, and spend the best part of a year messing about finishing off the details.

My reading is that it is all opening with the exception of the Carrickmines interchange..
