Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any Audax / Wicklow 200 events organised this year ?

Well, there's the Wicklow 200 anyway:

There's a week and half left to train!

With the upmost of respect I think the Wicklow 200 might be a trip to far with ten days to go! Some severe hills on it.

Maybe off topic but can someone tell me what exactly is Sally's Gap?
I understand it's this valley but when they talk about Sally Gap being a catagory 1 climb, i wonder which direction their on about?
I go up Military road heading south, then down into Sally Gap, there's a cross roads there.
If you turn to the west, it's downhill to Blessington.
If you go east the road goes up and down and it comes out somewhere south of Bray i think.
If you continue South at that crossroads does it go to Laragh?
Anyway, do i presume the catagory1 climb of Sally Gap is starting from the west and navigating this valley heading east?

    Its a crossroads.

I've never raced over it but have cycled into from each of the four approaches and I'd say the climb up from Blessington (the west) is the hardest.

Yes, south is to Laragh via Glenmacnass waterfall.

Yes. You can check out the hills on this page:

    http://www.wicklow200.ie/2003/11hills.shtml

It's the 2003 route, but many of the same climbs are used each year.

Note that the Wicklow Gap is Category 1 for the Wicklow 200, but was only Cat 3 in the Tour de France. Puts it in context.

And no, you won't meet me up there!

I rode the Embankment climb last year and I was dead after it. Maybe I need lower gearing...

And I believe that was them being generous to Ireland and wanting something to award the polka dot jersey for. It was climbed in the big ring and was a Cat 4 climb at best in france. Which makes it worse again.

edit: this http://www.cyclingireland.ie/leisure/index.shtml would be somewhere to keep an eye on. There should be a calendar somewhere. The leisure season is well organised typically
