Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What Kind of Actim Stats are produced?

I know he's English born, but the lad is an Irish international too!

Duff was up to 5th until he got injured at the end of the season and missed the last 4 games. If he started the first 6 games of the season he'd be up in at least 3rd place. It really says a lot about the defensive side to his game now as he Pires and Lampard scored/assisted much more goals than Duff.

BTW - the main thing about these is that they messure how effective a player is over the course of the season.

Well their obviously not accurate enough, Carragher was hardly only the 38th mos effective player in the league.

I dunno, there are a lot of players above Liverpool in the league to choose from :)

In the CL, it's a slightly smaller poule! :)

i reckon the opta stats are more based on reality than these.
i mean, what exactly does offsides count for in a season?

Henry didn't do too badly either. :)

This will sort the men out from the boys.

Sam Alercyce uses a system like this to evaluate his players. Smart man!

I actually thought opta produced the official stats for the EPL but I found this on the Actim site:
Actim is the brand name for the official data of the FA Premier League, The Football League and the Scottish Premier League. The data is used to produce Actim Stats.
How are Opta making their money? Sky Sports?

Bookmakers, statistians, economists etc. all use their information.

Cahill is top Evertonian, no surprise at 18. Lee Carsley did good (22) well Tony Hibbert had a solid season, but I'm surprised to see him so high (25) since he can't pass! Then Martyn at 43, Weir at 47, Gravesen 52, Pistone 64, Then Killer Kilbane and Marcus Bent at 77, 78. Osman bringing up the rear at 95.

All well and good. but since Stubbs was probably our most important player after Cahill didn't even get on the list, I think the ratings system is utterly screwy, and not worth a tuppence :p

Don't really know what those actim stats are based on but the fact that Kiely is ranked higher than Given means it gets my seal of approval for veracity.

I think Given had a good season.
