After NTLs VoIP announcement a few days ago; enter Digiweb VoIP for residential customers.
The Irish Independent reports that broadband provider Digiweb is to enter the residential voice market in the third quarter of this year. The company said the voice over broadband service will come without line rental charges, and Digiweb customers will be able to call each other for free. Customers will be given either a standard telephone number or one of the newly available 076 numbers provided for internet telephone services.

I can guarentee that there is another large Irish telco going to move in to VOIP soon. I just can't say who.

I spoke to Esat a few weeks back and the rep said they'd be rolling out VoIP during the summer, their currently testing the service and he told me what range of 076 numbers they've been assigned (can't remember the range)

So all thats really left is Eircom...

No I'm not. A friend of a friend set it up. I know that sounds like lies but I have seen the website.

I'll put it this way. I thought "Ooh this will be good, I may not bother with Blueface." Once I saw the website I was disappointed.

That may be the way of it - initial excitement about new VoIP providers replaced by disappoinment when they roll-out their offerings. Time will tell.

Just look at comregs web site to see how has been allocated 076 numbers and it is obvious that most phone companies are thinking about having some sort of VoIP product.

And when you see that BT Ireland have looked for more numbers than anyone else, it looks like they are planning to go for VoIP in a big way.

Yeah was just going to comment on that, I'm curious out of the two (Eircom & BT) who will be first to role out services to home customers

If I was a betting man, and I'm not a betting man, then I'd bet on BT.
