I must pay a UK vendor GBP 65
I could use a bank draft or EFT

    here are the costs

    ***bank draft in sterling ***
    -EUR 0.60 stamp
    -EUR 0.01 envelope
-EUR 1.75 approx what AIB get from their stacked conversion rate over the inter-bank
    -EUR 0.00 commission student free
    ===============================
    -EUR 2.36

    ***EFT***
-EUR 20.00 fee for sending in sterling
also the UK sort code and bank account isin't enought, they won't even look at you if you don't have an IBAN and BIC

Its cheaper to pay by a paper method!

    >Express or normal service?

well I got info on AIB 24 banking (telephone version)
I didn't askout about timing oops

the rep on the phone that I could pay "by in euro for free"
I don't know wat that means, because the vendor just wants to receive
    STERLING.

The vendord suggested I use nochex but that only take UK issued cards
(whats the point of having a visa card if countries can come into it)

anyhow, I just payed the vendor by paypal from my credit card

damn banks all they are interested in is money :)!

    on the subject...

Is there any online company that will allow me to place money in a UK bank account, that I could pay for with my credit card (even if "cash advance") or paypal.

I too, often pay ppl in the UK, and I won't be a "student" soon so drafts will start costing me (graduate account understood)

well, you can do that with AIB banking, yes the phone version, not the web version (although in fairness the web version allows ad hoc transfers to all irish accounts that have a sort code, whatever the bank)
