If you're not a subsriber to Salon (I'm not) then you can just watch a commercial before they let you see the whole article.

I have nil knowledge on the history of comics myself so have no idea how accurate or otherwise the article is, but it's well written at the least. And apparently this will be a regular spot on Salon, appearing the first Friday of every month.
