I think this would be a great idea seeing as the golf forum is becoming more popular.

Just like theres a boards beers, 2-3 times a year we could have an outing to say, somewhere like Athlone.

    Show of interest please.....

I just ran out of that kip.
    Don't bother your (collective) hole.
And yes I was a member in Glasson, its full of culchies.
It's like playing in St John of God's. ( No offence they do great work)

I chose athlone because its centrall, i have played there myself and its not that bad. the course doesnt matter anyway, just who would be interested in getting a society going.

    Count me in.

Pencil me in too (work permitting of course).
Might also be worthwhile mentioning where you're from too. Not much sense in a dozen Dubs trekking to Athlone to meet up with two guys from Waterford, eh?

    Dublin man here, obviously.

    I'm in donegal.

I would travel to dublin if everyone else was from there.
(I would have to beat you all though)

Thats a great idea - I'd be on for that too. I'm not in the handicap bracket of things, I've only played a handful of times, but I'm able to battle below 100 now and again (I'm also able to stare down the barrell of 120+ when things go wrong).

I'm in Dublin (Drumcondra) I'd be able to give lads a lift if they needed one.

If you are planning a golf outing then count me in. I am living in Dublin but I don't have any way of getting around ireland except bus. Is there any chance that the outing will be in Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,377 ✭✭✭Curran

Seems to be a fair bit of interest........have at least 10 there already!

    I think its a great idea!! :)

I'd have to second the question about the guys with no handicap! Cos i have none either......and can also score sub 100 and plus 120 from one day to next!

Happened me last week.....beat my mate comfortably.......played the next day with a few more quid on than usual, thinkin i'd clean up.....lost €50...wuda been more except i managed to claw a shot more than him on the back 9!

    This is looking good now.

Mag, I play my golf out of Portsalon, a fantastic links course.

As for guys with no handicap, 24 is the max but i would like to rely on peoples honesty to give themselves a reasonable hc.

Weekends tend to be expensive for outings, higher green fees and more pressure on time sheets but people may have trouble getting off work. I will look into a few courses in the dublin area, any suggestions?

    I'd play.
Citywest might be an option they have two courses, one is a championship course, think its about 40 - 45 euro. I can play during the week.

    Cheers

    So far we have:

    Me
    rubberduckey
    garred
    milltown
    Curran
    [DM]-TheDOC-
    Halo
    delboy159
    ziggy67
    swingking
    Carpenter + 6?
    Armen Tanzarian

    Thats 18.

Playing during the week is cheaper but may pose problems for people who work. Everyone in Dublin + nearby, get a price for 5 tee slots(20 golfers) for July August time, mid-week and weekend and post you findings here.

The time would have to be 2 or later so i could get there :D

I am feeling slightly awkward about this thing with you all being total strangers to me. How do I know I'm not going to be raped =P

I'd also need to know times etc to sort it with me parents. I have a busy schedule ahead starting work (on a golf course) and playing some major comps coming up.

But at a reasonable price to play with me e-buddies =P id say i would go.

I'd play & i'm a member of the lakes course at city west, I can call & get some ideas how much it would be for what, three 4 balls if I'm with you?

Usually 20 quid for a guest with me, usually 40 or 45 I think depending on day etd.

I don't have a handicap either, but would definitely be interested in some sort of Boards Golf meeting... what's the story with this at the moment?
