hi, anyone know if there is a max length of optical cable that can be used with audio equipment? 10m is the longest I've found so far searching about...

anyone set up a 5 - 10m optical cable for their equipment and got any notes to share?

will be connecting the optical out of an Apple Airport Express into an Amp, a 5m should do it... with one corner to route around....

No problem you can run them 100ft with ease once its a powerful transmission.

One tip dont buy a plastic sheathed one get a glass sheathed one.

bought a 100 ft one off ebay and worked ok out of the box ran it through the roof down to where the audio is an no joy - snagged somewhere along the way

Went back to ebay and bought a 50ft one from a company called stsi they have an ebay store and cant recomend them enough - cable worked first time

Cable was for nothing compared to what you would pay here and was excellent quality - much better than the other one which even though twice as long was much poorer quality
