I have a GPS tracking security-device in my car and would like it to have a better "signal" as much as possible.

Currently it uses a small "blob" of an antenna with a lead (ie. not built into the receiver) terminating in a tiny BNC-type screw-in connector.

Are these antenna generic, and are there better options for a more consistent signal. I have the antenna mounted on the rear shelf under the plastic window (convertible car) so it does have a good view of the sky albeit though the window and vinyl roof.
