upload speed, download speed.... which is best

    i'm looking at smart telecom, "download speed of 2Mbs and an upload speed of 128kbs"

    is this good

    It's the same speed that you can get from Eircom / Esat / Netsource / Digiweb. It's cheaper but their are complications. Smart is only available in a handful of exchanges. You will probably be without a phone line for a few weeks while waiting for their install process to complete.

    2m/bit down the line is quite good. Large files can be downloaded very quickly, video streaming etc is not a problem. 128 upstream is terrible, and means you can only achieve 12 k/b per second up the line. So if you think you will be uploading alot, go with NTL (Cable) or one of the wireless operators like IBB etc.

    wont be uploading too much.

    dont have an issue with phone line either.

    just waiting for smart to sort out belcamp exchange. they said july or aug, so that's aug.

    any recomendations, if smart delay further? ntl?

    on utv's free trial at the mo, seems a bit slow......
