Alfa decided to put their latest cars were their mouths are. Won't stop the ignorant views of Alfa Romeo and reliability but here goes anyway...

In the latest issue of AutoCar...a 24Hour race of small standard OE hatchbacks from a range of manufacturers, including BMW, Honda, Mazda, Vauxhall.
There were 2 models for each marque entered. 1 petrol and 1 DIEsel...for Alfa it was two 147s entered, a 1.6 T Spark petrol and a JTD model.

Over the 24hours, the 147s were 1st and 2nd before the JTD crashed out with no brakes, however the T Spark won it by 27 seconds. BMW 1 series DIEsel was 2nd overall.

In the petrol model only results the Alfa was 1st and the Honda Civic was 2nd.

What does that prove, other than they are willing to spend more on marketing than reliability.
I doubt the toyota Avensis Diesel has ever been entered in a race, let alone win... unless it was a slow one of >250Kmls

Alfa Romeo's are great - all you have to do is look and listen to them.

Be interesting to see the same challenge/race with the same cars when they are 4+ years old with >60k miles on the clocks.... Bet neither the Alfa or the Beamer would have even finished ;)

A better test might be to take the Alfa, BMW and Honda after they have clocked up over 100,000 miles and then see which one has endured it best.
