stickies are placed at the top of forums,

they commonly deal with Frequently asked questions, and the guidelines to posting in a particular forum

    here's an example

A sticky is a permanent thread in a forum, often a charter or important post stating rules or announcements. It will always appear at the top of a forum, new posts won't knock it down the thread list. Only moderators and administrators can make them, but if you start an important thread and ask a mod or admin they may make it a sticky.

A sticky thread is one that is always at the top of the listing in a bid to make it more visible. In honesty, people tend to ignore them more than anything, in spite of the fact that they are there for a perfectly good reason.

Sticky is a moderator's power that allows them to keep a topic at the top of the list when you view a forum. It's a verb also: to sticky, means to set a topic to remain at the top of the forum.

That was an easy one: they're all easy if you know, sez you.
