I hope all are having an enjoyable sunny day in Listowel. Now for a trip to Ballyb to catch the salt sea air. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Where is that in relation to the square?

  • Registered Users Posts: 339 ✭✭Cherry Tree

That is Listowel Castle with new statue of Bryan MacMahon in the foreground. The castle is located a few doors down from the church on the town side. Apologies that the picture is so big. I'll have to go back to letting Sandhill do this photo thing.

Since I can no longer post in the DUBLIN CITY forum would someone of you please add to the thread in " News for Listowel people in Dublin" (started by me ) that SANDHILLROAD prefers to stay put in the South and will no longer be of bother them.
    Thanks.

I went to the Dublin thread to post your message and it said "closed" where it should say "post reply". I think that that is outrageous. What is going on? Who monitors these threads?

    CHERRYTREE,

After NIGHTCRAWLER posted, the forum was closed. I questioned earlier in the HELP DESK forum how to proceed with locking the " News for Listowel People in Dublin " ,as the thread would continue to be nothing but tasteless and petty remarks, 'though it had a good number of views. They closed it overnight.
    Thank you for your effort.

Don't take it too much to heart, Sandhill. There will always be nasty people in the world, but for every one nasty one there are many more who appreciate what you are doing.

It might be sunny in The Garden of Europe, but, it is wet in the Garden in Rhinebeck

In fairness, your thread in the help desk forum was a hoot too.

Even though 10% of people write poetry, and only 2% read it I would be very reluctant to deny that 2% their enjoyment.

If somebody is writing to a Forum and somebody else objects, it is very easy to ignore that posting. Trying to ban someone is unnecessarily dictatorial.

    :)

Lovely pictures Sandhill. I live in town and I talk to lots of people who enjoy the forum but never post. On their behalf, thank you Sandhill and keep up the good work.

Neither would I. I was more thinking of the 8% like myself without so much as an audient.

They are very nice, Sandhill. They got me to thinking the next time I find myself back in Kerry I'm going to have to go wandering around Listowel and get to know the town better. The Riverbank Walk looks especially nice.

Hi Sandhill, what a fantastic forum, I am new to this, it's the first time i've joined a forum. I am from Listowel and I have just put up 2 web sites about Listowel for my Daughters, 2 of whom are working out of Ireland. I was on the walking tour of Listowel last Sunday with Mr McKenna and saw your photos of same. It was very interesting, I must get some information from Mr McKenna about it as I would like to give the tour myself as I am very proud of our beautiful town. The web address for my pages are

    http://LISTOWEL-IRELAND.bebo.com

    http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=819108043&n=2

Turn on your speakers for movie

Well done on the Ballybunion forum, my wife is Listowel born but lived in Ballyb for some years 1963 until i took her back to Listowel in 1975
    Keep up the good work

Know any of these fellows ?

    unsavedproject1216x777largeweb.jpg

ARCADE, To coin a phrase: A Hundred Thousand Welcomes to the Listowel Forum.
Our thanks should go to CHAINREACTION ( who are they ? where are they ?) who started this forum. But out of our own love of Listowel we keep it going and going .

I wish I was on that History walk with Mr.McKenna, or "Young Jack " as he was known back in the 60's. but, here I am thousands of miles away in Rhinebeck. New York.
Thanks to our roving photographer in the Kingdom I was able to enjoy Writers Week as much as I could.

What a grand tribute to Listowel and to John B you have done . You would know that voice a mile away.He is one man that" to know him is to love him ".

His play " The Field " is on in NYC this month.

We will excuse you if you have to go to Ballybunion now and then.
Ps; Looks like you had a great time in Listowel's twin city.
